September

Hello Parents!

The Bears have had a wonderful first month at school! We are working hard on our phonics skills - the panda's have been working on the letters b, n, t, a, p; while the grizzlies have been practicing reading in short vowel books. Both classes are doing "drops in the bucket" daily, as well as math journals. We have been impressed with the homework we have been getting back, we want to thank all of you who have been using crayon, and have been following the directions to the best of your ability. PLEASE don't hesitate to ask for help with the homework if you do not understand what to do, but we will always accept your best efforts ;) We had a great time learning about each other using the awesome "me bags" you all helped put together - everyone was SUPER excited to share with their friends! We are looking forward to a fun October. Some events on the horizon are: Carnival, Diwali, Back to School Night, Pumpkin Hunt, and a fun field trip at the end of the month.

Here are some pictures we have taken this month :)

New School Year!

Hello everyone!

We are excited to start the new school year!!! We will have some familiar faces in the Bear class, and we will be saying hello to some new friends as well. We have been working hard on a new curriculum, new classrooms, and new ways to have fun. We will be starting homework on Friday, and it will be due back the following Thursday of every week in the homework bins located in the front lobby area. We have filled your first homework folder with a schedule of our day (also located on the blog), the first week of homework plus instructions, and some tips to stay healthy this school year. As many of you know, the H1N1 virus is out there, and we do not want it at CLASS Academy! Please make sure to help us in our efforts by staying healthy at home, and following school rules such as sanitizing every time you are coming into the school!!! We can't wait to have bright and shiny faces fill our classrooms - feel free to come on back to see the new rooms!

Looking forward to the year,

Ms. Robinson & Mr. Clark

SWIMMING!

Hello Parents!

We had a great time swimming last week; everyone enjoyed their time in the pool a lot! Thank you to all of the parent helpers who came with us, we really appreciated your help. It was wonderful to see all of the students having fun and becoming more confident in their swimming skills.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you on Wednesday 5/20 for portfolio day - look for a note in your student's homework folder or lunchbox this week with more details.

Here are some wonderful pictures we took of your swimmers!

Welcome Back!

Hello Everyone,

Swim week is almost upon us! We have included an information sheet regarding swimming in your student's homework folder. It is promising to be a very fun week!

The changes we have implemented in our reading program has already produced very positive results. Each class has improved their descriptive abilities and are coming up with some great and very imaginative ideas when doing create-a-stories. A couple of notes on homework:

**If your student is absent on a Monday or Thursday, homework pages will be available at the table in the entry way - it will be YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to collect and complete the homework for the following due date. Also, please help us ensure that your student puts their name on each sheet of homework. We appreciate your help!**

Thank you all for the work you are doing at home,

Mr. Clark & Mr. Walker

PS - Mr. Clark would like to thank everyone for all of the kind birthday wishes! We had tons of fun celbrating at school. My family was able to come down from Washington, and they brought popsicles :) Again, many thanks to everyone who made my birthday special!

Greetings from the Beas and Rockets

Hi everyone,
Over the last week the Bears and Rockets have continued to work on patterning - below are a few examples of their work.

Also, we have finished our solar system mobiles. Here are some of the Bears with theirs:

In Science we are now moving on to our section on Oceanography in which your students will be learning with Mr. Walker about a variety of marine animals. Our Theme this week, taught by Mr. Clark, is on money. The students are learning about each coin; which president, what is on the back, and of course value. We will also start working on assessments over the next few weeks. We hope you are all having as much fun with your students as we are!

Hello Parents!

We had a wonderful week celebrating valentines day, the 100th day of school, and our final ice skating adventure! This week in Mr. Clark's class, the students worked on patterns - as you can see, everyone did a great job and had fun :) Mr. Walker wrapped up his solar system unit by making some incredible mobiles you will see in the classroom soon! We hope you are all well.
